The parallels are constant and multiple. Black people couldn’t use white bathrooms. The term “passable” came from having skin light enough to ‘pass’ for white. Black people couldn’t marry white people. If you ‘passed’ as white and you were outed, the consequences were dire. White people have a tendency to objectify and fetishize Black people. I could go on and on. Marginalization translates. Oppression and privilege step on many, not just on one.
