It isn’t small. TERFs are lobbying aggressively to brand us as something other than women. This impacts public opinion, and affects policy-making. This affects trans women in shelters, fitting rooms, public restrooms and most critically in shelters. This ideology, echoed recently by HUD Secretary Ben Carson, results in violence and exclusion for our sisters.

I am a trans advocate. We take a stand. We fight the big battles and the small battles, we fight for visibility and accurate representation — because there are people, people in decision-making positions that affect us directly, who use every opportunity, including every linguistic or semantic opportunity, to dismiss us, reject us, exclude us.

So no, it’s not small.
