Climate Action Isn’t About “Saving the Planet”

Why saying “save the planet” is an incredibly misguided idea.

We need to stop saying “save the planet.” The reality is, the planet will be just fine. The planet has survived tectonic shifts, ice ages, asteroid impacts, and worse.

The Dying Polar Bears, the Last White Rhinoceros

Over the last half-a-century we’ve seen campaigns focusing on dying polar bears and other endangered species. I’ve never been near a polar bear. If all of the polar bears, or even the spectacular white rhinoceros or some cuddly koala bear disappear from the face of the earth, this will hardly have any impact on my quality of life.

People don’t care.

And why should they care? Grocery prices, gas prices, and immigration are the issues people care about. Sadly, most people don’t realize that grocery prices are linked to disruptions in the global supply chain caused by environmental issues. Or that mass migration is caused, in part, by flooding, heatwaves and other issues caused by climate change.
